He settled in Levkarest where he studied healing and found a vocation in the service of Ezra as a lay anchorite and a spiritual guide. He ended up working as a treasurer for the Church of Ezra. He has an office in the Great Cathedral and has been assigned a pair of body guards that accompany him in official duties. Johann is in his 50's, suffers from gout, walks with a sever limp, and wears a partial mask over his face. He was maimed and scarred for life by a vampire that would have taken his life but for the timely intervention of Dr. Rudolph van Richten.
