Othmar Bolshnik was born in 708, the son of [[Prince Kethmar Bolshnik]], twice ruler of [[Nova Vaasa]]. He succeeded his father head of the [[Bolshnik family]] and as prince in 729 upon the latter's death. Initially, Othmar ruled under the tutoledge of a regent, [[Sir Tristen Hiregaard]], a deathbed arrangement made by the father that infuriated the son.
