Bone golems a type of dread golem. The creature is intelligent and is constructed out of bones from creatures formerly animated as skeletons. Consequently, not only are bone golems easily mistaken for these simple undead, those who face them are often encourage to make this dangerous assumpiton. Bone golems are powerful with a screaming attack that can paralyze and even outright slay a foe. They were first created by Azalin.
One is known to exist near the Maw of Arawn in Forlorn. How it arrived at such an unusual location is unknown.
Construction
A bone golem’s body must be constructed from the bones of skeletal undead. Only 10% of any one skeleton can be used in the creation of the golem, so bone golems often incorporate bones collected from 20 or more creatures. The golem costs 25,000 gp, including the scant 100 gp needed for the construction of the body. Assembling the body requires one month and a successful Knowledge (anatomy) or Heal check (DC 12). The creator must be 18th level and able to cast arcane spells. Completing the ritual drains 1,400 XP from the creator and requires animate dead, symbol (fear), binding and wish.
