Natalia Vhorishkova - a beautiful, intelligent, thoroughly evil woman and werewolf - courted George Weathermay and persuaded him of her desire that they be married, as part of an attempt to avenge herself upon Dr. Rudolph van Richten. The ruse fell short of its mark but ended brutally nonetheless with the mauling of Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove and her infection with lycanthropy. The deception and paralysis of George in the moment her unmaksing has left him with a spiritual wound that will not heal, perhaps not even with her death, which he has sworn himself to bring about.
