This volume is the third in a series of annuals extending the 2nd Edition Monstrous Manual. Not to be mistaken for the Ravenloft Monstrous Compendium Appendix III, which is specific to Ravenloft.

-This is the first edition of the Monstrous Manual to be dedicated to the Ravenloft world in the form of a book.  It lists many of the monsters created specifially for this game world, especially the various types of vampire that haunt Ravenloft.  Among the many undead listed in the book is the Insect Skeleton, an entry for which only the text was ever published - the picture for this entry is that of the Drow Vampire, which also appears in its own entry later on.
