In the Vaasi story written by Ansgar, Haldor was a military hero whom bored a star-crossed love for Gudrun. When they were ordered to lead armies against each other, Haldor sabotaged his efforts and was killed. Unfortunately, Gudrun pulled the same stunt and died as well.[1]
