The Alchemist was the creator of the Apparatus, he split himself into his good side (The Alchemist) and evil side (Strahd von Zarovich).[1]

An individual calling himself the Alchemist has been seen in Armeikos, though whether he is the the Alchemist of Mordentish legend remains to be seen.[2]
