The Great Cathedral of Levkarest is a tall, impressive, and gleaming structure that reaches over the roofs of most other buildings in Levkarest. It is the headquarters of the Church of Ezra and of the Lawful Neutral branch thereof. It also serves as a meeting place for the various offspring branches of the Church. It is the religious seat of authority for the Praesidius of the Church, currently Praesidius Levin Postoya. Although the priesthood conducts official worship ceremonies every five days, the Cathedral sees a continual stream of visitors on each and every day.[1]
History
The Great Catherdral is not the first temple of Ezra (at least the House of Grace[2] and possibly the Ste. Mere des Larmes[3] are older places for Ezra's worship). According to the history presented by "S" in the Doomsday Gazetteers, much of the funding for the Great Cathedral came from the coffers of Camille Dilisnya under manipulation by her half-brother Yakov Dilisnya, whom said that the Church would make a superb tool of social control. Earth was dug for the cathedral's foundation in 685 BC, and church services were first held in the skeleton of the Cathedral in 695 BC. The Cathedral did not reach final completion until 745 BC, twelve years prior to "S"' completion of the fourth Doomsday Gazetteer.[4]
