From Curse of Strahd. Dream pastries are the concoctions of Morgantha and her coven. A dream pastry is similar to a mincemeat pie except that it is made from the ground bones of a child. The dream pastry produces a hallucinogenic, dream-like trance that lasts from 5-8 hours unless the eater is roused from the slumber beforehand. The night hags sell the pastries to the people of Barovia with the hope of corrupting the eaters until they willingly fork over their children in order to escape the horrors of Barovian life.[1]
