Katasuro is an island with rich volcanic soil, two active vulcanos and a land rich in iron, copper and tin. The island has a strong military presence and an ever-present secret police. Paranoia is less a mental illness here than a way of life. People are suspicous of everyone outside of their family as anyone could be working for the secret police. Outsiders are even less trusted as they may be the spies or assassins that the lord claims are everywhere. There are military checkpoints and you need internal passports to get anywhere.
