Shanty boats are flat bottom boats used by the fishherders of the Fallaya Basin. They vary in size, but the are generally only large to hold a small one or two room shack with enough space to walk around the outside on the deck. While the boats can be towed by beasts of burden, they often either drift with the current or are propelled along by a person using a pole. As a result they are not usually capable of fast movement. The flat bottom and small size of the shanty boat allow them to be moved across shallows and small embankments with less trouble than a normal boat which comes in handy in the ever shifting deep swamp.
