Orliab was a Red Wizard of Thay and the lover of Thantosya, a rival of Hazlik. Hazlik coveted Orliab's affections. Through this desire, Orliab lured Hazlik into a trap where Hazlik was captured by Thantosya and the rest of Hazlik's enemies. Hazlik was braned with humiliating tattooes, and his estate was burnt to the ground. In revenge, Hazlik murdered both Orliab and Thantosya.[1]
