Classified as Noctilio tempetus, the Tempetian bulldog bat is native to L'île de la Tempête. It has a curious ecological relationship with a larger bat species, the Tempetian ghost bat, by way of the disease the former carries. At certain times of year by eating carrion, the bulldog bat takes in diseases, which its body renders dormant. When the ghost bat eats an infected bulldog bat, the latter can pass the disease onto the former. As the ghost bat dies, it provides carrion for other bulldog bats.[1]
