The vast majority of magically created scarecrows collapse to dust upon the death of their creator, but a handful instead gain full sentience. These scarecrows become [[evil]] and hateful towards the fully living. Because scarecrows hate [[fire]] and aren't phased by [[cold]], a conscious scarecrow usually makes a beeline for lands of [[cold climate]]s.
