Serving mostly as [[guardian]]s, baneguards are [[evil]], intelligent [[undead]] resembling [[skeleton]]s. Baneguards have a couple of unusual [[spell-like abilities]], namely the power to [[blink]] as per the [[spell]] and fire [[magic missile]]s from their hands. The baneguard is a creation of the [[Faerunian]] [[cleric]]s of [[Bane]], though knowledge of creating a baneguard has spread such that clerics following a number of other dark gods have created them.<ref>[[Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume I]]</ref><ref>[[Monsters of Faerun]]</ref>
