If I Was Awakened To The Matrix...I Would Work For Machines

I can hear you now: "But Leliel, the Machines are evil!" Really? Is it so evil to wish to survive by any means possible? Is it evil to allow humans to live in an endless golden age? Is it evil to allow humans to live at all, when in the long run, it's probably better to simply use fusion?

Although yes, I would probably work for Zion at first, it wouldn't be long before I realized that Zion itself brainwashes innocent AIs-I've seen the Animatrix, you know-and that humanity instigated the Second Renaissance-Is that history propaganda? Maybe, but why are the Machines portrayed in there as being in the wrong as well? It isn't the most honorable tactic to kill diplomats, you know-it would occur to me that the Machines, while certainly not good, are not at all evil either, at least compared to the Zionite rebels. All they do is spread chaos in an orderly society, and while I certainly realize that being slave to a computer is certainly bad, it is far better then being a slave to a cause that, in the long run, is probably worse for humanity at large.

So, what do you think of my reasons?

I always liked Agent Smith. I kind of felt sorry for him. So, if I could retain my humanity, and work closely alongside Agent Smith, then I might work for the machines as well.

As an aside, I think Morpheus should get the gap in his teeth fixed, and that the last two movies stank.

As soon as I saw the scortched remains of the earth, I was rooting for the machines.
Of course, now that humanity's been freed, they all have to move from 20th century earth to the sterile cesspit that once was our planet.

So, I supose the machines have the last laugh.

Where's your messiah now, humans?

If I could retain my memory, i.e. not living in a dream, I would jump right back to matrix! Oh, and I would ask for a couple superpowers to mess up you know. The machines didn't seem so bad, perhaps I could persuade them to give me something.

Oh, come on...

"Give me liberty, or give me death", anyone?

I'd never work for the machines. Better to die free than live a slave, and all that. But I don't know how well I'd get along with those Zion people either.

Eh. Being a biology-geek, I'd probably be too depressed by the total annihilation of the planetary ecosystem to work for either faction.

Either that, or I'd be too baffled by the fact that a vegetation-free Earth can still have a breathable atmosphere (!) to worry about little details like human batteries.

Sadly, I'm not computer savy enough to have been freed from the matrix, considering the theme seemed to be that they freed the most skilled hackers. I would continue living my life as I do now and never know that I was a battery.

That said, I'd have to weigh the benefits of each. Life in a miserable, post-apocolyptic world, or life the way I know it until I die? I'd probably choose the prior, simply because it was different - an escape from the mundane, if you will. As for humans vs. machines ... eh, six of one, half dozen of the other.
