Oh wow. I've heard some nasty tales about that place having A LOT of negative energy and rightfully so.
Honostly, they should have never rebuilt the place after Vlad burnt it down.

This is Castle Bran. Despite what the story says, it
isn't in Transylvania but Brasov.
At the time of the Impaler, the castle was owned by John Hunyadi, a voivode of Transylvania, regent of the Kingdom of Hungary, and father of Matthias, a well-regarded King of Hungary.
As the Impaler often sought aid from the Hunyadi, it's unlikely that he ever laid the torch to this castle.
As for the real Castle Dracula, it's now a pile of rubble as it collapsed in the late 1800s.
For a great book on the historical Dracula and his connection to vampire lore and Bram Stoker's novel read
In Search of Dracula: The History of Dracula and Vampires by Raymond T. McNally and Radu Florescu. This is one of the coolest history books ever. Also check out the Impaler's biography
Dracula, Prince of Many Faces: His Life and His Times by the same authors.

You know I don't think that 135 million (Or 100 million Euro) is an amount that history lovers would pay. Perhaps some very rich billionaire would do it but most of such people prefer to invest so much money instead of buying castles with respect of the place's history.

I agree, if I were rich I would prefer to do 1000 things but I doubt I'd buy the castle. However, I'd like to visit it.

2 words... GHOST HUNTS!
Well, that's what'#d happen if I got hold of the place... that and rent some of it out as apartments (expensivee ones) and the occasional holiday home.
Myself and some people are trying to round up enough people to buy it, lol.

Well, someone said a $1,000 each, but I'm thinking that if we get about a million people on board it'll cost us each a whole lot less, lol. We're mostly having fun, seeing how many people would be crazy enough for it, but I think every goth in britain would jump at the chanc of owning a little bit of the castle, lol.

That's why the owner said: "I'll sell it to ones respecting its history". I don't think he meant every Goth in Britain that wanted to rent part of it as appartments or to have D&D meetings in it.
PS. I believe that if we introduced Archduke what's-his-name to Ravenloft, he would give us a 20% discount!

Although its a very cool castle, the Impaler spent less than a week (some say a day) in the castle; So, it's selling point, "Castle Dracula," is nothing but a salesmans lie.

I've read both of these books. Have you ever checked out their "essential" version of the Dracula novel? I think I like that one best.
I recently took a class on Gothic Literature (including Dracula), and I brought in these books to share with the class. My instructor got pissed off that I had better sources than she did.

The only thing that she could find to say about the books was that they were "outdated". . .

I think you've got to give Florescu and McNally credit though -- they were really the first ever scholars to unearth this much information on Vlad, and although their stuff might seem a little "dated" now, they still were the first, a title which no one else can claim.
On thing I didn't like though, were the recent History Channel documentaries about "the historical Dracula". They only gave credit to Florescu, and didn't even mention McNally

But that's television for you
