Short report: fun action film, but lacked the intensity of the original. 2/5 corpses.

what do you mean by intense?

true, zorro was not after revenge and the film lacked the gravitas of anthony hopkins. this film featured alot more fun comedy of the swashbucking tradition. this movie was just as much about the importance of family as the first one.

besides, i won a free zorro cap and t-shirt when i went on my date that night ... so i'm probably more enthusiastic than other reviewers.

is it just me, or did any of you think Catherine Zeta-Jones was Latina when you saw the first zorro movie?

Your last point first, are you referring to the actress, or her character?

I've been rushed the last few days, so I couldn't do a detailed report, so here are a few clarifications.

By intensity, I meant the darker nature of TMOZ: Hopkins's imprisonment, losing his wife and daughter, the vengence theme, etc.

TLOZ was a fun action film, but it seemed lacking. Forty sword-fights and not one person gets stabbed? What is this, Xena? And why do so many gunman attack with swords, anyway? Duh, shoot the guy, already!

Of course, I'm exaggerating a little, but you can see my point. If you go in expecting action and a little mindless fun, then you won't be disappointed, just don't go in hoping for the drama of the original. This is a lighthearted action film with quite a few comedic moments, and that's all.

i was rfering to the actress. her accent is pretty good (like Viggo Mortensen's accent in Carlito's Way) and Zeta is Spanish for Z. i was a bit suprised to hear that she is Welsh.

Well, she may have a mixed ancestry. Hell, I'm an American Mutt, myself.
