PC game Sanitarium!

I just finished an old PC game called Sanitarium. I picked it up at Best Buy the other day for only $2 (It was released way back in 98, so it was on the bargain shelf at the store.)

I realized that the game would make a perfect Ravenloft adventure. Without spoiling too much, the game deals with a character who wakes up in a gothic asylum after a car crash. He can't remember anything, including his own name! Throughout the game, he travels to a variety of surreal locations trying to uncover the mystery of his past. Is he insane? Is he imagining everything? I won't spoil it! The atmosphere fits Ravenloft perfectly. I got a ton of inspiration for Ravenloft plots from the game. (Especially the level that takes place in the village with all the freakish deformed children!)

Has anyone else played the game? If you can get a copy of the game, I would suggest giving it a shot, for no other reason than inspiration for Ravenloft.

Played it a while ago, quite liked it. And yes, you're right about the atmosphere of it. Carnival level might be usefu for ideasl as well.

Wow! I have't thought about this game in awhile, & I agree -
playing Hide & Seek with those freaky children set the tone for the whole game.
The received a copy of this game from a neighbor quite a few years ago when I first got my computer. She told me that once I was finished with it I should pass it on because it had no replay value what-so-ever...
I believe I remember her telling me that was how she had gotten it, so when I was done with it - I passed it on.
Last I heard it was out in Utah somewhere...

I highly recomend this, & for two bucks you really can't go wrong.

Great, G-R-E-A-T game indeed. I disagree with the replayability thing, since i've played it at least 4 times now to the end. Sick, sick atmosphere, some good ideas for a RL adventure. It would go better off as MotRD though.
