Café de Nuit

I read the other topic which was a great source of ideas for Pearls in the Oil for the Phantom Forest. That being said I'm still looking for inspiration for more as I want a campaign that revolves around Kateri and her story. (Don't get me wrong I love Elana as much as the next would be Dark Power but Kateri's story is more impactful to me)

All that being said I'm trying to figure out allies and enemies that could've been pulled into the mists to torment Kateri's ghost. Or perhaps Ebonbane himself.

Ideas Include:

An elemental lich that used to her mentor but was corrupted into lichdom for some reason.
A town that represents a safe haven for the Knights of Shadow and it's inhabitants.
Of course something to do with her fallen squire or squires.
Her physical resting place.

I'm using Copilot to help me out too but I'm just trying to think of something to try to get the party from level 5 to 15 or so with the overarching story dedicated to the Shadowborn family. Obviously it's going to be hard to base everything in the Phantom forest and the Shadowborn Manor but it's going to be something that I'd like to do as much as possible.

Also why did Ebonbane become a Dark Lord? It seems odd for a fiend to become one.

It is odd. My headcanon explanation is that Ebonbane was snared by the Dark Powers not solely because of his evil but also because of Kateri Shadowborn's goodness. Rather than allowing it to be released upon the Great Kingdom again, her departing spirit dragged him into a metaphysically nearby prison, the demiplane of dread. The Dark Powers couldn't have latched onto Ebonbane without also latching onto Lady Kateri.
