I'm a rivethead which means I die for industrial music. One of my favorite bands is Heimataerde, a german group that combines industrial with medieval instruments and chants and follows themes of warfare, undeath, knights and horror.

Some songs are very energetic and have an EBM vibe to them while others are sorrowful and moody. Basically there's a good mix here and I would recommend this band highly.

as a fellow rivethead i would like to suggest Ah Cama Sotz. Great horror-noise-soundscape stuff. Kinda like a darker Izoloscope or This Morn Omina.

Vipera, ooooohhh good act! I love powerlifting and strongman lifts- industrial goes so well with it. Ah Cama Sotz would be perfect to deadlift to :P or plan evil DM plans.

Well, I decided to check it up, and since it's still online at the Mausoleum, if you pardon me the shameless self plug, I also like this (bit unsurprisingly):

http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/Maus ... vedOne.mp3

Although this MP3 is actually cut short a bit abruptly, for some reason, more or less at midpoint.

Sigh... another casualty of the server move no doubt. Do you happen to have the original somewhere? If not, we'll look around for it. Sorry!

Ron, I sent you an email, but I got an error back from gonzoron@hotmail.com. I don't know if this is a second mailbox where you forward your mail to or not, so I don't really know if you've received my email. Please, tell me if what's the case before I send it again.

You know, I wish I stumbled on this thread while my campaign was still running... so many brilliant suggestions that could have saved me hours of searching! Ahh well... save this for next time, eh?

I do have a few more tracks to offer that I found and used quite succesfully in my own campaign:

Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack: Say what you will about the series, but Bear McCreary created some fantastic pieces. A personal favourite is Violence and Variations, which works extremely well for cities. Other good ones include Passacaglia, Battlestar Sonatica, Allegro, Something Dark is Coming, and Prelude to War.

Age of Empires Soundtrack: This game has some fantastic songs that work especially well for the Western Core. I particularly like Happy to You, though other ones well worth checking out include Leisurely Brows, Credits, Felonious Junk, Didn't See It Coming, and Last Name Crane, Ichabod.

Icewind Dale: As the game which turned me on to computer gaming, I would be greatly remiss if I failed to mention some great songs from this series, such as Skeleton of a Town Targos and Arrival at The Docks from IWD2, The Town of Lonelywoodfrom IWD1x, and Temple of Tempus, Arundel's Home, Severed Hand Interior, Easthaven in Peace, and The Tale of Icewind Dale from IWD1... however, most of these are under 2 minutes, so stringing a few together are in order to stop them from getting repetitive.

Neverwinter Nights: Though much of NWN's music gets a little bland durring a run of the game, there's still a decent selection of stock tunes, such as Waterdeep, Crossroads Keep, Neverwinter City, Slum Day, King of Shadows Battle, The Astral Plane, Ashenwood, Mulsantir Gate, Lake Shore Combat and the majority of Storm of Zehir's soundtrack, though the Main Theme and the Plains themedeserve special mention.

Thief: This series has some amazing music for Ravenloft games... really fantastic for almost any domain or setting. All the tracks can be downloaded Thief - The Circle fansite, but some worth listening to include Into The Maw of Chaos, Shalebridge Cradle, The Clocktower, The Overlook Manor, The Pagans, The Docks, and The Wieldstrom Museum.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: This game has a fair selection of themes which work relatively well for the Western Core, again, mostly strings with little accompaniment. Some highlights are Tarant, Caladon, Wheel Clan, and Vendigroth Wastes

Warcraft III/World of Warcraft: Again, say what you will about the games, but they do have quite the treasure trove of music that can be used in Ravenloft. Some I have found useful from Warcraft 3 include: Blackrock & Roll, Human (4x, from Frozen Throne), Arcane Echoes, Blight, Carrion Waves. As for WoW... well, it gets a bit tricky due to the size of the player base, and the likelihood that one of your players has played the game in the past. Still, I've used a few pieces successfully in the past, including the mountainthemes, the "Legion" themes, the "Scourge" themes, the variousthemesfrom the NecropolisNaxxramas, as wellas mostof the tunes from the hauntedtower ofKarazhan, Terokkar Forest, Shadowmoon Valley, Auchindoun, and the Ghostlands. Now, I haven't had a chance to really look over the Wrath tunes, but I will likely find some to use in my next campaign, be it Ravenloft on otherwise

Other bands/games I've use have been: Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls III and IV, Sim City, .Hack//, Sim City 3 and 4, Tales series (Symphonia and Abyss), Halo II and III, Dawn of War, Lionheart, Midnight Syndicate, Korpiklaani, Gnomus, Einstürzende Neubauten, Corvus Corax, Rhapsody of Fire, Abney Park, and Dragonforce (not all for Ravenloft, mind you, though the Mass Effect tunes were. Long story that one...)

(yes, I do spend waaaaaaaaay too much time on soundtracks... so shoot me)

Yes, Rhapsody of Fire is very D&D itself.

It's really a shame it's only an intro that stops in mid-air, but at any rate, you have to listen to this. It's perfect for those moments of drama and antecipation. Listen to this and tell me seriously you do not see the land dark, the sky in thunders, and the big demon in front of you, rising, as you all prepare to give it fight...

Epica - Indigo (Prologue)

(it does stop in mid-air before the end of the video. the CD continues here
