Thank you all! Very cool! I usually play more sociable characters, but I must confess that the possibility of playing a Ravenloft elvenkin in all its glory just intrigued me.
Please note that Cirdan will always refer to himself as an elf, and will be provoked to the extreme if anybody mentions his human traits.

I'm not exactly trained in this, but a sense motive roll might be in order to tell if this guy is fibbing or perhaps leaving something out of his story.

The man is terrified of Leon and Norzak. He's probably telling the truth. A liar would give more [but false] details. His story sounds believeable.
