Ack. Rock and I simul-posted (Rock's post that the shadow foe was gone was not there as I was typing). Then I got Rock's PM that the foe was gone and I thought, "Hah...?" So I looked back, went "d'oh" and deleted my post, not realizing that Tarlyn was already replying to Lucien's actions! Double d'oh!

I'll post later tonight -- and if it's OK with Rock, I'll try to recreate my earlier post as a quoted "flashback" and we can say that Lucien's and Zumba's actions happened simultaneously. So yes, Zumba & Goren DID hear another voice speaking to them telepathically, and yes, Lucien slapped Goren just as Goren was waking up. It's more fun that way.

This is a fun developpement Rock. Charm Person, it's been years.

Rock, could you make a Sense Motive check for Lucien regarding the doorman's answer? (I'd do it, but I shouldn't know whether Lucien's belief is based on actual truth or a crappy roll.)

I think that it's alright for you guys to arrive at the shore of the swamp just after this most recent combat round between Vincent and the Drowlings. ^^

Thanks, Rock. Ah, drownlings -- cool stuff. I used them in one of the most memorable fights of my home Ravenloft campaign years ago.

I have an area effect thingamajig in mind, and I'd like to get a better visual idea of the positions. Is Vincent in the middle of, say, a "Y-pattern," with the drownlings roughly equidistant from each other, at the tip of each branch of the Y, or is he in the middle of a "T-pattern," flanked by the two drownlings at the top?

Ideally, the power (energy wall) would separate Vincent from two of the three foes, yet still present Goren and Zumba with opportunities to attack them.

Don't forget the fight is roughly 100 ft. away.

At this time, Vincent and the Drownlings are in a T-pattern, with one of the three up close and in his face.

Not a problem for a Medium range power. OK, thanks. It sounds like I could draw a line connecting two of them -- the main gal in his face plus one of the flankers -- which is basically what I'm hoping for.

Okay. Goren has no spells and his swim skills are 0 + whatever he will roll.

How deep is the water?

Ail: No legend about tentacular swamp monsters springs to mind. And to your experienced eye, this actually looks more like the work of a crocodile or an alligator. A big one.
