You better believe it! If this were anyone other than a DL, Ciera would be itching to use disintigrate on him! A few of those would have ended things right quick!

So, only con drain/damage kills unless it states otherwise in the description.

Question: Since a shadowdancer's shadow doesn't create spawn, can they still kill with their Str drain?

This is one of those times you can take me seriously!

I'd say yes.

Tee Hee...I have to agree. I just re-read the entry for it and it says that they do die. Only humaniods rise as spawn.

Two more cut scenes up, and no shortage of places to discuss the first. So the second doesn't feel left out in all the hubbub, let me say a few special things about it. Yes, it was a genuine reading, from beginning to end. It was totally spontaneous on my part to do a reading for Y'Gina, and it was such a great reading I just had to write up a cut scene so I could share it with you.

Apologies to one and all.

I've been deluged with real life stuff lately, especially the past four days. Already recovering from a bike-on-car accident at the end of March (my bike, their car, broke my three front teeth) and trying to stay ahead of a swell of business at the science store (I know, it's a good problem, but it's still a problem), I am now a proud father a second time (Kathleen Joy, born Monday 8:30 AM via c-section, 9.5 pounds and 21.5 inches long) and have until Monday to write three reports totaling 26 pages to complete my degree.

All of these complications should disappear within the next two weeks (well, except the kid, and work should still be high, but I'll be on top of it...you know what I mean) but between now and then there's still plenty for people to do. I'd like to thank Nathan for pushing things forward with Cortez; even just clearing some air between Cortez and Peregrine is a good start. I hear Gurthoron's sick and unable to post, but after he's better I look forward to reading how he's dealing with things on Blaustein. Unless I miss my guess, the IM's about Ashkar are in his court, so I'll be waiting to hear from him, too.

I've got a post in the works where Invictus scouts around among the Nightwalkers, which should be a candid view of Saragossan life. Other than that, I'll be returnign Ciera to the Pirate's Bane with a darklord in tow.

Things are heating up, folks! Thanks for sticking with me this long!

No apologies necessary, DS. Commiserations and a speedy recovery for the bike crash, and as for your new daughter, congratulations to you and your wife and all best wishes to her.

Looking forward to the continuation...:lucas:

Sorry the Captain's been largely out of action lately, I've had to deal with my father being in the hospital, which has taken up a lot of my spare time lately. I haven't disappeared completely though! If I get a chance I'll try and catch up.

Wow. All the best to your father, Matthias. We'll leave the light on for you.

Hello everyone :D

May is almost over. The baby birds are screeching (right outside my window), the sun is shining (well not right now since it's three in the morning), and the grass is as high as an elephant's eye (Oh goody, time to break out the lawn-mower). Personally, I'm doing a jig, happy not to be coughing my lungs out anymore.

To the point...

There's hardly been a peep this month from anyone except Nathan, and I was just wondering how everyone is.

Have a beautiful day!

*Sigh*

The above beloved distractions and cruel hardships, please amend to include "computer problems". I've been essentially computer-less for over a week now, with my next exciting installments waiting on my hard drive at 95% completion. Needless to say, I'm currently posting from another computer.

I'm glad to hear you're still alive. Just hadn't heard from you in so long I was starting to worry. Take care and have a nice day! :D

*beats back the Demons of Real Life*

Whew! Thanks so much for your patience, everyone. My PC's not out of the woods yet, but I've managed to clear up the problems well enough to dig out some crunchy goodness for you. Once the speed gets back to normal and hotmail no longer crashes IE for me, I'll be sending out a mass email to send off the return of Reckonings with a vengeance! In the mean time, here's a juicy tidbid that has been used in the lastest post and should soon find its way to the PC's via some recovered spellbooks. As per the other forum, I'm posting the original 2E stats from Dragon along with my 3E update for purposes of evaluation.

Captain’s Voice
(Alteration)
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 turn/level
Casting Time: 2
Area of Effect: One creature
Saving Throw: Neg.

Ship captains are often recipients of this spell, cast by an associate wizard or bard. Captain’s voice allows the target to speak in a normal voice (or louder, if desired) and be heard clearly in a 90’-radius area, as if the listeners were standing beside the speaker. Ship captains and military commanders often use the captain’s voice spell for giving commands to large groups of people simultaneously. The caster’s voice carries through wooden walls without restriction, but stone walls greater than 6” thick stop the captain’s voice from carrying. Obviously, this spell can be used effectively within wooden homes, towers, or fortifications as well.

Willing subjects of this spell need make no saving throw. An unwilling target can be affected by the spell, making his words easily heard throughout the area. A person so affected notices that his voice is magnified on a successful Wisdom check, made once each turn. The material component is a small bullhorn made of ivory or horn. A common clerical variant of this
spell is known as priest’s sermon, because some priesthoods allow an identical spell (from the sphere of All) used during religious ceremonies or worship in large temples.

Captain’s Voice
Illusion (glamour) [language-dependent]
Level: Brd1, Clr2, Sor/Wiz2
Components: V,S,M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 min/level
Saving Throw: Will (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

Captain’s voice allows the target to speak in a normal voice (or louder, if desired) and be heard clearly. The spell grants a +10 bonus to Listen checks to hear and understand the target's speech, ignoring check penalties for any wooden barriers. The target is not entitled to the bonus to hear himself; an unwilling target notices that his voice is magnified on a successful Wisdom check DC 10. The material component is a small bullhorn made of ivory or horn.

Ship captains and military commanders often use the captain’s voice spell for giving commands to large groups. The clerical variant of this spell is known as priest’s sermon, and is used during religious ceremonies or worship in large temples.
