I think the metaplot belongs (intellectual property-wise) to White Wolf, so I don't think you can do that. But that may not be an issue as I realise you don't actually know what that is yet because I haven't told you.

Again, is it really an issue unless if this was to be published for money?

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but whether money's involved or not is irrelevant. It's an issue of the owner of the IP (or text or artwork or whatever) that would be appropriated cared to make it an issue.

The FoS guys are probably up to speed on WotC's policies regarding this matter.

Yes.

IP is an important issue, whether or not money is involved.

Besides, to what Joel, Ryan and Steve have said, Willowhugger, I personally don't see why things should have to be decided at the spot. If the setting won't be supported anymore, THEN we, or better, not WE, but the Fraternity can look what to do. At the moment, I think the wisest thing would be to wait for the next few Dragon/Dungeon issues, as well as for heroes of horror. for whatever we plot here would be obsolete, should WotC decide to relaunch the setting in some way... So: patience please!
