Markovia is an island in the Sea of Sorrows. It lies hidden in the mists, about twenty miles off the coast of Darkon and Lamordia. Despite that relative closeness, it is hard to reach, so few people have actually visisted.
The island is covered in a strange mix of vegetation. Temperal trees and shrubs, leftover from a time when Markovia awas part ogf the Core's landmass, now rot in the moist, sub-tropical climate. Most are covered by young plantlife that seems to be more appropriate to the setting.
At first sight, there seems to be little of interest on the island, thpugh it is dotted with abandoned villages and the occasional ruin. Further investigation reveals some interesting features. There are the stonbe men, gigantic stone statues that rise from the sea. On the other side of the island, high on a cliff, lies a monastery, now inhabited, so stories say, by an evil order of monks.
Finally, there is the stockade of Doctor Fran, a biologist who lives on the island. Aside from the monks and the beastmen, he seems to be the island's only inhabitant.
