Yatehcaa is a domain of arid mountains and deserts. In bringing this land into Ravenloft, the Dark Powers have rearranged much of the terrain into confusing patterns to bamboozle Coyote, the darklord they have imprisoned here.[5]

The Yateh are the people of this domain. They live a lifestyle that is oriented towards traditional values and family connectedness. As with many domains, agriculture forms the basis of life for most Yateh. Women dominate weaving and pottery, whereas a few families have fathers that teach their sons the mysteries of silversmithing and ironsmithing. The Yateh recognize no central authority but are governed by the family rule of the oldest women, and the priests, whom are men. The typical priest is morely likely to be a druid than a cleric.[2]

The Yateh view on magic is noteworthy in that wizards are reviled but sorcerers are exalted. Wizards are thought to have been taught the stolen words of creation by Coyote. On the other hand, sorcerers are seen to have been granted use of them from the gods.[6]
