Paul Dirac may refer to the Dementlieuse expatriate now known as Paul Vedarrak, father of Marcos Vedarrak, or to Paul Dirac, nephew of Paul Vedarrak, cousin of Marcos Vedarrak, and member of the Fraternity of Shadows.

Paul Vedarrak, born Paul Dirac, was a wealthy grain merchant of Dementlieuse origin and the father of Marcos Vedarrak. Although he was a grain merchant with no military experience whatsoever, Dirac nonetheless truly admired Falkovnian military discipline and organization. Unfortunately, Dirac was too loud and too active a Falkovnian sympathizer, and he had to flee Dementlieu altogether after being accused of spying for Falkovnia. Paul brought his family to Falkovnia in 718 BC when his son Marcos was only two. The wealthy merchant changed his name to Paul Vedarrak and was able to insinuate himself into Falkovnian society by purchasing a commission as a quartermaster in the Falkovnian Army. Paul's sycophantic fawning over the Talons made him an object of ridicule, but his talents as an organizer and quartermaster earned him begrudging respect. Paul's squabbles and power games with his wife caught Marcos in the middle, making their son a humorless perfectionist with an overwhelming need to achieve success at all costs.[1]

Paul Dirac, nephew of Paul Vedarrak above, enlisted in the Fraternity of Shadows while a student at the University of Dementlieu. In the Nocturnal Sea Gazetteer, he assisted Professor Viktor Hazan in scouring the Nocturnal Sea for the traitor Erik Van Rijn.[2] However, while in the search, Dirac met with a gruesome fate. Somewhere between August and September of 760 BC Viktor Hazan discovered Dirac stranded on a rock near the harbor of Graben-town. Delirious, cold, and almost unconscious, Dirac was fished out by Viktor and the sailors under his employ. They delivered him to Dr. Gunnar Illhousen for treatment, but Dirac made little progress for days. Eventually, Dirac escaped from his cell and walks into the sea. However, Dirac leaves behind some notes on the Drowning Deep he wrote while under the mental influence by Virundus.[3] He had apparently became one of the Sea-Claimed.
