History

Murillia is a corrupted] realm of the Murillian elves. Once a a great and beautiful elven paradise best known for its Murillium Trees. It was (and still is) ruled by the eternal Queen Celëanthiel Aigremia. However, one day the Dark One descended from the Far Realms and tried to bring Murillia into that dimension. Its corrupting essence spread, warping any and all it touched. At great cost to the realm and its inhabitants, the Dark One was imprisoned and sealed within the Black Star. One day, the Dark One's essence could be destroyed, but until then it must remained sealed.[3]

The threat of the Dark One returned once again when a power-mad wizard took the Black Star and called upon dark forces to put the realm into siege once again. Fortunately, the wizard's own evil proved to be his undoing, his attempt to absorb the Black Star killed him. The Black Star was intact but disappeared from the known cosmos.[3]

As the day foretold of the Dark One's final undoing drew near, the Queen sent out her scouts hither and yon searching for the Black Star. However, the Star found them, or rather was brought to them. Of all places, the Black Star appeared beneath a young human girl's house.[4] Her name was Teizala of the Bradolmar.[5] The Black Star began draining of her life, and she retrieved it when she could not stand it anymore. Using what life Teizala had left, she made the arduous journey back to the Queen. With her last few breaths, she presented the Black Star to the Queen.[4]

Queen Aigremia, who had grown bitter and power-hungry in her long rule, immediately did what the wizard had failed to do: absorb the Black Star into her being.[4] She transformed into a a being of even greater power and inhumanity, an aberration both more and less than the elf she was before.[5] Her corruption spread throughout the kingdom. She ordered the capture or destruction of those [[elves] she could not corrupt[4] , causing a mass exodus from the realm[1] as the Mists claimed Murillia as a domain.[4]

Ecology

Climate/Terrain

The domain of Murillia was once the core of a great sylvan forest. As it is now, it is a relatively small domain still covered by the eldritch trees, but it is a corrupted forest. The once great tree houses of the elves have blackened; the vines of the plant life have become twisted and gnarled into ugly shapes.[6]

There is a small zone protected from the Fallen Queen and her corruption at the heart of the domain. Ironically, the Sacred Center of Murillia is the former residence of the Queen. it is warded by the presence of Teizala.[6]

The land has effectively no exit, save for a single mistway: the Mournful Song, which creates a bridge between Sithicus and Murillia.[7]

Flora and Fauna

The corruption from the Black Star has transformed much of the wildlife of Murillia. Many of the trees have become warped into various forms of monsters such as dread treants or quickwoods. One sixth of the normally mindless plant monsters has been made intelligent and evil. A fair amount of the sentient plants have some degree of innate psionic abilities.[6]

All of the animal life of the domain has been rendered intelligent and evil.[6]
