Izek Strazni is an NPC from the 5th Edition module Curse of Strahd. He is the ruthless legbreaker for Baron Vargas Vallakovich and (unknown to all) the long forgotten biological brother of Ireena Kolyana, whom Izek does hold an unwholesome obsession with even if he doesn't remember the origins of his bond.[1]

History

Izek was one of the Barovians to be born without a soul. A native of Vallaki along with his sister, they were separated during a dire wolf attack on a fishing trip. Ireena disappeared into the woods while the dire wolf took off one of Izek's arms. Their father rushed Izek to safety, but Ireena remained lost and eventually faded from Izek's memory. Izek's mother and father soon met their doom in grief and sadness, leaving young Izek alone, an outcast shunned by society. Izek murdered those who mocked them and hid their bodies, but his misdeeds eventually came to light. Taken in front of Baron Vargas, Izek escaped punishment through Baron's pardon, and he was brought to live at the burgomaster's mansion. Izek has served as a loyal enforcer ever since that day. At some point, Izek woke up from one of his many drunken hazes with a fiendish arm grafted to where his missing arm was.[1]

Current Sketch

Izek enjoys exploiting the power of his position. The dim memory of Ireena haunts him, and he remains obsessed with her even though he doesn't know why. He bullies Gadof Blinsky into making more and more dolls of her, amassing an extensive collection.[1]

In Curse of Strahd

In the module, Izek serves as Baron Vargas' person muscle and brute force. If Ireena is brought to Vallaki, he will attempt to make sure they are never forced apart again, likely in a violent fashion.

Game Statistics

Izek has his own block of game statistics. Izek's large build allows him to inflict more damage in melee combat, and he may fire balls of flame from his fiendish arm. He is of Lawful Evil alignment[2]
