Note: This domain has been described with the "mature audiences suggested" label.[1]

Hibernate is a heavily forested, island domain (though not an Island of Terror) that is nestled in the Sea of Sorrows between Demise and Markovia. Stratford (pop. 4000) is the country's most sizable community followed by Donvanshire (pop. 1,100]] and Lutuk (pop. 950). The climate is quite harsh, even extreme, for a temperate climate in the winter and in the summer, Autumn and spring are thankfully much more tolerable.[1]

There is a sharp class divide between the upper class and lower class in Hibernate. The nobles are quick to show pointlessly decadent displays of wealth as they lord over the peasants. It is worst in Stratford and not as bad in Lutuk.[4]

The native religion of Hibernate has simply been called "The Church". They refer to their deity as "God". Without a precise notion of whom their God is or what is desired, the Church has nonetheless issued many edicts of morality and behavior. Much of church policy has gone into writing the secular laws of the land.[2]

Hibernate is in theory a republic but not so much in practice. Twelve aristocratic families maintain a figurehead elected government of wealthy landowners, but the church also holds immense sway. In fact, Pontiff Donovan Lindor has the power to bring down punishment on sinners as he sees fit.[2] The police are fairly corrupt, though their leader Police Chief Robert Haight is not.

Slavery is illegal in Hibernate, but a system of indentured servants can bring woe to those ensnared by it.[2]
