Heretical is a personal and religous trait that is a applied to an individual, togehter with his or her teachings and believes, who is at once a believer of a religion that he or she has no intention of abandonning and a questioner of one or more of the tenants of that religion, at least as they are currently understood. A heretical individual is a doctrinal innovator but it is equally a doctrinal dissent. Existing authority judges the heretical individual to be a rebel who dreams of leading a revolution and consequently declare him or her a heretic, which is to say a religious criminal. The religious crime of the heretic is heresy, his or her believes and teachings are heretical. Heretics tend to meet gruesome ends. Rarely they give birth to new religions by ways of [schism|schisms]].
