In Curse of Strahd, the Children of Mother Night is a pack of werewolves that dwell in the Werewolf Den west of Lake Baratok. They venerate Mother Night and see Strahd as her champion, therefore they respect and obey him. The group is led by Kiril Stoyanovich, though Emil Toranescu created a rift in the pack by suggesting that the pack keep the children they kidnap alive and infecting them with lycanthropy to increase the pack's numbers. Kiril vehemently disagreed, believing the increased size represented too much of a responsibility and reliability, and Kiril ultimately settled the matter by appealing to Strahd. Emil was taken away to Castle Ravenloft and Kiril retained leadership, but the group still remains divided by Kiril's tactics.^[1]

The Children of Mother Night represent the werewolves sent by Strahd into the Misty Forest of Faerun in the Werewolves in the Mists adventure hook. If Kiril is slain and Emil takes leadership, a negotiation can be made for the group to stop raiding Faerun.^[2]
