Animation is a manifestation of energy. It is change. It is movement. Animation is equally an institution. Animation is the institution of a creature. The terms of a creature's institution are its capacities and incapacities. Constructcrafting, dread constructcrafting, golemcrafting, and dread golemcrafting are concerned with animation. Necromancy is concerned not with animation but rather with reanimation. Medicine is for the most part concerned with reanimation also, but a medical researcher such as Dr. Victor Mordenheim who puts too much faith in himself and his science can make of medicine a quest to steal from nature the secrets of animation.
