My guess would be the Grim Bastion.

Was that an early volcano explosion? Or a gunpowder\magic explosion? Has anyone actually told Raen about what the Vistana said? How far is the boarding house? Did the earth shake?

Raen isn't aware of any natural volcanic activity in this region.

Gunpowder or magic could have wrecked and set aflame that boarding house, sure. Or something else...

Nobody has told Raen about the gypsy's warnings. Yet.

You guys see smoke/ash plumes.

No wolves.

But it's poor visibility out, and most of those plumes seem to touch down (or rise up from) low spots/ground level locations completely blocked from your vantage by buildings.
