Just saw some thread of people talking about essentials, and it struck me that I don't even know what those are.

Any one could shed some light on that?

Some rebuilds of the base 4th ed classes. It's more or less a repackage of the rules in box sets with dice to mine nostalgia (I do love box sets). Looks like a good marketing move.
