How can a mistway travel from the middle of a sea to a landlocked domain? Does the ship just suddenly get stuck in the sand? Does the crew just vanish from the ship and appear standing on the sand? If I want a group to travel to Har'Akir using the mistway, what would be the best way to explain their transition from sea to desert?

The Jackal's Ruse dumps the ship into the desert sands.

It reminds me a little of the Skeleton Coast, a treacherous desert coastline off of Namibia.

Back before ships had engines, the prevailing winds and surf direction meant that it was possible to come through fog and mist (!) and land on the coast, but it was impossible to get back off. There are hundreds of shipwrecks left behind there. The closest way back to launchable coastline was hundreds of miles away through inhospitable desert and marshland.

Maybe it would fit a late Gothic, early Industrial timeline setting - like Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" novel.
