Gazes are not as dangerous as you think, since you can always close your eyes or look somewhere else and be immune :). For instance, a Medusa is a CR 7 monster with a gaze that turns you into stone permanently.

Anyway I changed it to increasing your fear level, it's probably more flavorful.

Hum. Good point actually.

Still, a duration of some sort?

Oops, it was supposed to last 2d6 rounds, I must have edited it away :D. Now it's back.

BTW, a 14th-level party will probably be under Heroes' Feast and thus immune to fear effects, including the Knight's gaze :)

:D

Well, just finished the Encounter Groups for most of the Faerie, so here they are.

The Elegist

Encounter Groups
The Elegist is never found without the contents of an entire graveyard protecting him, usually servile or bestial undead such as zombies, ghouls, or ghosts. On rare occasions a sentient and pre-existing undead or a particularly dark and malicious Faerie will join his entourage while he is in the area.

Level 8 Encounter (XP 2100)
- The Elegist (Level 11 Controller)
- 5 Ghouls (Level 5 Soldier)
- 1 Skeleton Tomb Guardian (Level 10 Brute)

Level 11 Encounter (XP 3500) (Using Open Grave)
- The Elegist (Level 11 Controller)
- 2 Zombie Throngs (Level 9 Brute)
- 2 Drowned Ghosts (Level 11 Artillery)
- 6 Skeletal Haulers (Level 11 Minions)

Cecil, the Master Cat

Encounter Groups
Cecil is usually found at the side of his temporary 'Master', which leads to the chaos-fey being found with all manner of villains. On the occasions that Cecil chooses to act independently of his erstwhile superior, the Master Cat recruits Faerie of murder and subterfuge to act as his henchmen.

Level 13 Encounter (XP 4,100)
- Cecil, the Master Cat (Level 15 Elite Controller)
- 1 Vampire Lord (Human Rogue) (Level 11 Elite Lurker)
- 4 Vampire Spawn Bloodhunters (Level 10 Minions)

Level 16 Encounter (XP 7,000)
- Cecil, the Master Cat (Level 15 Elite Controller)
- 3 Drider Fanglords (Level 14 Brutes)
- 1 Briar Witch Dryad (Level 13 Elite Controller)

King Hob

Encounter Groups
Inside of Goblinholm, Hob always has a number of retainers close at hand, goblinfolk who rush to their king's aid at the first sign of trouble. Even on the rare occasions Hob ventures out of the Goblinholm, it's usually to lead a war-party to attack a human village or rival Faerie troop.

Level 7 Encounter (XP 1,500)
- King Hob (Level 9 Elite Soldier)
- 1 Howling Hag (Level 7 Controller)
- 2 Bugbear Warriors (Level 5 Brutes)

Level 10 Encounter (XP 2,480)
- King Hob (Level 9 Elite Soldier)
- 10 Hobgoblin Warriors (Level 8 Minions)
- 2 Spectral Panthers (Level 9 Lurkers)

The Minister of Fear

Encounter Groups
The Minister is never found on his patrols without a pack of his Hounds at his side, nipping at the heels of any foe. In an extremity, the Minister calls upon the ghost-ravens to tear foes to shreds. Other denizens of the Midnight Market never get involved in the occasional fights, most commonly preferring to simply run away somewhere safe for the duration of the battle.

Level 23 Encounter (XP 26,800)
- The Minister of Fear (Level 25 Elite Controller)
- 4 Wild Hunt Hounds (Level 21 Skirmisher)

Level 27 Encounter (XP 55,200)
- The Minister of Fear (Level 25 Elite Controller)
- 6 Wild Hunt Hounds (Level 21 Skirmisher)
- 2 Shadowraven Swarm (Level 27 Brute)

Nice. :)

Still alive by the way, just switched jobs recently so haven't had as much time, but if you can get the stats on google docs, I'll try to work on it this weekend.

Well, the 4E stats are online, but not the 3E stats as of yet. Sorti, do you want to do that? I was figuring to hold off on that till there's more of them, but I can do it if you want.

It's the same for me, we can either wait to have a good number or do it now, I'll leave you the decision.

I'll see what I can do then, probably later tonight I'll put up the 3E stats.

My computer is currently... ah... in less than stellar shape, so I'm using the campus library machines for all my Word stuff.

KK can you email me one of your pics? I want to have a go at laying out text and images on a page, and play wiht image borders etc.

Oh quick question though are we thinking of full page pics or having them wihtin the text like alot of the DL portraits in RL books?

Sure, I'll send you some links when I get to work.

As a heads-up, I color exclusively in vector (Illustrator, specifically), so resolution won't be an issue in my finished pictures. Some of my pictures will probably do better as full-page portraits while others (like the Red Jack) will fit as a smaller image within the text.

Updated the main document today.

I'll work the stats into appendixes later.

For now though, I looked at the DM Notes and Combat sections of each faerie and I think we could rewrite those. Since we're including the stat blocks at the end, there's no need to suggest DM's what builds to use.

Instead, I think we should keep the Combat info with the stat blocks (suggested strategies like most monsters have) and use the DM Notes to describe situations where this particular faerie / faerie location can be used.
