Yes I thought so and half-elf can actually disguise in human that is important as I pictured the char. An elf gets the attention a half-elf with a cloak and hood may pass easily as human

Any word on those so I can finish my char?
alhoon wrote:To clear something about literacy/semi-literacy:
It's 2 NWPs for a fighter to read\write one language.
Is it 4 to read\write in two, or is it 3 because it's the 2nd language?
About semi-literacy:
Is it one NWP per language?
About Arquebus:
To use the other end to bludgeon people what proficiency is needed? Club? Mace? Staff?
Are there Bayonettes?
KITS:
Is there any fighter kit worth its salt that would allow me to get some bonus skills? And fits the character? My Fighter's book is deeeeeeply buried in a pile somewhere in the attic for the past 15 years.
ALSO: Have the thieves set in the "we were a kind of gang, and had to leave" background? Cause then I would like to assume Fild knew of them and was leaning towards joining them.

Literacy
Each language (or script) is a seperate skill.
INT+1
So it is 4 slots to be literate in 2 distinct languages.
Semi literacy: Yes, one slot per language.
Clubbing the arquebus :
No extra skill needed. Turning it around and bashing with one end is a standard technique.( A swordsman can bash a foe with his pommel or the flat of his blade, too.) Onviously does only a little damage and no special exploding dice. Such common but improvised use of a weapon you are familiar with might take a small penalty to hit if that makes sense in the situation. Like a -1 at most.
If you want to do more damage that way, though, take mace (the lighter kind) proficiency and say your arquebus is especially sturdy, with a metal plated butt. Note that a Nat 1 attack this was could damage the broomstick.
Bayonet? Not invented yet.
Kit? Nothing truly worth it for this guy, I think. Except maybe outlaw, and I think the armor restriction would be a poor choice.
Remember, you can ignore kits. I give one free general group NWP to a non kit single class character.
Many kits only give two Proficiencies, often enough worth only two slots.
Not taking a kit means no special cheese, but it also means no restrictions on skills, equipment, role playing, combat tactics, etc.
Background: Work that out with the other players. But Magic 8 Ball says, "Signs point to yes."

What's "exploding dice?" I've heard that in regards to Edge and Shadowrun but not DnD....? Unless of course you mean you plan to booby trap our dice so on a roll of 1 it explodes like a firecracker. In that case go right ahead. XD

It is a special rule for arquebuses in 2e.
Basically, the weapon can crit for lots of damage. Roll max damage = roll again. And roll again if you roll max damage again!
But sometimes the weapon will hang fire, foul with unburnt powder, vent gas, and otherwise endanger you and prove a pain in the butt.
It is a trade off.
Added danger and unreliability, but the potential to blow the holy hell out of what you shoot at.

Speaking of weapons, does anyone object to play testing weapon types versus armor type?
PbP is slow enough that one more modifier may not make any notable difference.
If people generally dislike it, we can stop using it after a few fights.

Not sure what you mean by this but at this point I wouldn't know the difference having not played a 2e before.

Basically:
Gygax was a wargamer.
He knew that the plethora of weaponry used in Medieval times developed to attack different sorts of armor. He wrote to hit tables that reflected this.
The table look complicated but it is actually very simple.
You look at the base AC of the target (armor class from armor, not magic, Dex, other modifiers). You look at your weapon. Cross reference, get a bonus, a penalty, or no modifier to hit. That is it.
Let me scare up a table...

Or we can just ignore all that. Ditch speed factor , too, then (except for determining one on one quick draw sort of cases, I suppose).
Those are optional rules.

Alfonse, for his part, is not particularly fond of adventuring, finding it to be a dirty, brutal, and genuinely unpleasant experience. He studied at the university to become a wizard, but was "encouraged" by his teachers to go out into the world and experience it first-hand, rather than from old books. He didn't want to, but was informed that his classes would not continue until he spent at least one year "abroad." As such, he signed up with a group of what he considers to be mostly cutthroats, but who at least seem to know what they're doing and won't get him killed (hopefully.) It's been a few months on the road when they arrive in Provero, and I'll let you decide what you think of Alfonse, but let's say he doesn't go out of his way to make friends with you.

Sounds like Damien would probably avoid Alfonse mostly out of not understanding a few of the larger words he uses? Other than that he probably doesn't have a problem with the scholarly man. Though he'd be curious as to why out of all people he choose to go with them.

You should see the other parties he had to choose from.
