The party is able to make it back to their headquarters without incident. In the middle of the night, it's easy enough to simply stick to the deserted areas and thus avoid notice.

Entering the office, you find it just as you'd left it, dark and empty.

The bound man comes to after being moved inside. His eyes go wide with fear as he begins struggling against the ropes, trying desperately to get free.

He cries out-

''Let me go! Put me down!''

"No, no thank you. I will be alright on my own. I could use the fresh air."

He reacquires his hat and walking stick and hustles away. Finding the meeting place empty, he rushes back to the office.

As Benn approaches the office, he hears someone calling out for help. The voice is coming from inside the office!

"Cirdan, would you kindly comply?" He asks, after hearing the man asks to be put down. "Gently," he adds.

As soon as the man is on the ground, Dorgio steps between the man and the group. "Let me try my way first."

He then turns to the informant, and chants a prayer of healing.

"We...owe you an apology," he says to the informant. "Things at the gallows, they did not turn out the way I wanted them to. Please, understand that some of these men are on the knife's edge, and we had no idea what to be expecting tonight. We were taking a risk, but you must be taking one as well, and we respect that."

He then presses twenty gold pieces in the man's hand. Then, his own hand moves towards his belt. "Stay calm, I only mean to sever your bonds." Slowly, deliberately, he slides the knife from its sheath. "If you leave as soon as your free, you leave. I will not stop you. But if you stay, and you tell us your last bit of knowledge, there will be more where that came from."

He then cuts the ropes, knowing that the man may well run. But so be it, he decides. He'll have no part of torture, and he doesn't know long he can keep the warriors of the group from sating themselves.

Dorgio's prayer is answered. The man's injured face ceases to bleed, and the ruined nose and split lips regain their former apperance.

Looking amazed, the man quits shouting. He is shaking violently, and sweating profusely. His eyes dart about, with a look that speaks of suspicion and fear.

When Dorgio presses the gold coins into the man's hand, his fist closes tightly around them, so hard his knuckles turn white. Once Dorgio has cut him free, the man bolts towards the door! He doesn't even reach down to snatch up his hat from the floor.

He's running fast, but not so fast he cannot be intercepted.

Benn, still trying to sort out what the hell happened at Madame Rennier's place, walks up to the building. So preoccupied is he with his own thoughts, he doesn't even notice the cries for help, this not being the best neighborhood in the city by any stretch. He is surpised, then, when he opes the door to see an unfamiliar man barelling at him at top speed.

With a shout of surpise he holds his walking stick in both hands, crossed over his body, to try and ward the man away from running into him.

Alain looks on in disgust at this amateurish gathering of information , and handling of a possible informant.Thinking : Well I guess I'm going to have find out the info he had the old fashion way.

Editting as Cirdan surely can stop the thug from exitting.

Norzak has walked back to the office and his "room". He's taking a swig from his flask when he hears the others arrive. "I think they's gonna muff up the questioning. Bah! I's wait outside the door."

The dwarf exits his door and waits outside the office door, leaning on the wall. He's hidden in the shadows as well, drinking from his flask. When the man rushes out and nearly bumps into Benn, Norzak remains in the shadows.

When Cirdan knocks the man unconscious, Norzak slides out of the shadows, sticking his head into the office. "Anyone wanna join me for a pint or three? Imma goin' to this nice dwarven pub not far from 'ere. I warns ya though, tis not human ale." He waits a few seconds for an answer before turning and walking past the unconscious man.

"Have fun" he says with a laugh to Cirdan. He spits in the uncouncious' man's face for good measure, before continuing on his merry way, whistling all the way. If anyone followed, he'd talk with them, if not, that was fine by him too.

:) Please assume that Cirdan had stood in the door, or somewhere else on the way out, sword in hand, and will knock the poor man down again. It might be that he is more patient than Norzak, but he at least tries to be no fool.

Yes Norzak is no fool either as to marrying someone he's known less than a few weeks! :P

As the stranger rushes out into the street, very nearly colliding with a surprised Bennedict, Cirdan comes running up behind him and smashes him over the head with the pommel of his sword. The man collapses like a dead weight at Benn's feet. Gold coins spill from a pouch in his right hand, skittering across the cobblestone street.

Cirdan growls, and pulls the man up from the ground.

"I hope I didn't break his skull." And, after checking of the man's still alive: "- Now we do it my way."

The half-elf will bind the prisoner to a solid chair, tap the man's eyes with a black cloth, and take off the man's shoes.

"I said it already - this will be painless for the man. Anyone, please go for two buckets full of water. I know you have no reason to trust me, really, but this situation is already that much out of control that we should not let the damage increase any further..."

He stands, shaking his head sadly at the events. He makes no attempt to gather the scattered coins. Instead, he listens, and fetches the buckets.

"Remember," he tells Cirdan, "We don't just need his information. If we don't want him going to the men who wants us dead, he needs to be on our side."

"Maybe Norzak has a point," he continues..."might not be a bad idea to sauce him up, before or after. But he -must- be our friend when it is done, if you don't want his blood on your hands."

Bennedict's head is on a swivel as the man dashes towards him, befire Cirdan steps into the way and knocks him out. He tries frantically to keep up with all of the things happening at once, until he sees the man being tied to a chair with his eyes bound. Dorgio runs out to go get pales of water, and everyone seems to be ignoring him as his expression slowly darkens, his fact blotching a beet red. At last, he has had enough.

With a furious scowl, he smashes the head of his walking stick down on the tabletop nearby, filling the room with a thunderous crack.

"Will someone please explain just what in THE HELL is going on?" He gestures towards the man with his broken cane, "I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that we are NOT in the business of kidnapping! We've only just managed to clear our names from THE LAST TIME you IMBECILES started running around breaking laws on a whim. Who is this man, and why are you holding him here?!?"

"Stay cool, Benni." Cirdan rolls his eyes and grins. "Lecture friend Norzak, not me. This man was to sell us information, but the others threatened him. Better to have him here than to have him report to his masters, or worse, to come back with company to claim his reward."

Putting aside his bizarre horned helmet, the half-elf scratches himself behind his slightly pointy ears....

"What a mess... Yet, I am glad to see you, my friend. It has been some time. Half a year I was in my homeland, yet it seems like here passed only a few days... Spooky, ain't it?"
