Trouble with PMs

I don't know if anyone else is having this happen, but it seems as though my inbox is getting filled with anywhere from 3-5 copies of a single PM, and the sending of the notification email is badly delayed.

Any idea what's going on?

I think it's because people don't realise that when they send their message it does actually send, though the error message they receive after sending it. They end up sending three or even four times the same message unfortunately.

If you look in your outbox the message is actually sent though there was an error message.

I am getting no love with those things. I get messages but no notification, and everything I try to send ends with an error and my message in the outbox, not the sent box (marked "red" for unread). Frustrating.

As far as I know, on phbb, a message stays in the outbox until it's read. It only moved to your sentbox after the recipient reads it.

I remember this happened a few months ago and it cleared up after about a week. Not sure if it was because of something someone did or if it was a self-correcting issue, but it cleared up on its own somehow.

Seems like a server issue, more than anything.
