As far as human horror goes (in a very wide sense of the word):

Breaking Bad

And pitch black, dark humour...

Down to the ''final season'' as they call it...
(Finally catching up on the last three episodes of Fringe this week...)

If you want, let's get together, I'll lend them to you!

American Horror Story (do they have that in Canada, or do they call it Canadian Horror Story? ;) )

I've just started Sleepy Hollow (the series). Could go either way... some good stuff, but a generous helping of cheese...

Netflix has Dark Shadows...

Yeah, how is American Horror Story?

I think it,s getting a good vibe?

And here in Canada, we're calling it ''Mayor Ford's Ameri-Crack Horror Story''

:)

I've been watching that, too, and while the first few episodes were good, it seems to be losing steam thanks to a storyline that wanders off on tangents and the fact episodes are two to three weeks apart from showing. And yes, the cheese is so plentiful you need wine to watch it (or a six-pack, whatever gets you drunk).

One series I recommend fellow zombie fanatics avoid is The Walking Dead. I've only seen the first three seasons on Netflix but it comes off as a soap opera with zombies. Drama in zombie media is okay, but this is so soapy I still haven't gotten all the suds out of my TV

Overall, I like it. It took a bit for me to get over the over-the-top cheesiness, and some stupid character decisions, but hey, that's horror, sometimes. If you can accept that and just go for the ride, it's pretty great. The acting is phenomenal, and there are plenty of scary bits and pieces to steal for Ravenloft. 1st season is great. 2nd season... I liked it well enough, but my wife got bored. Still haven't finished it. 3rd season is really good so far. (each season is completely independent, in case you hadn't heard, but I think most people know that by now.)
And here in Canada, we're calling it ''Mayor Ford's Ameri-Crack Horror Story''
That's not Horror. That's pure comedy. It's even starring Chris Farley. :)

Hi Gonzoron,

Not to get too sidetracked, but yeah, I semi-lost interest on the Ford story... A couple of weeks ago I said: ''All we're missing now is a dead pro...''
And from what little I've heard, I think we might have that one covered by now...

But back on topic...

I'll try to get Amercian Horror Story. It sounds interesting.

I have JUST finished Fringe.

Ok, season 5 might not have a lot of RL / horror to it.
But I think with the right research, there's a lot of science gone wrong, touching on horror, to be had in there.
And not to spoil anything, but the Observers, Walter-net et al could offer some cool Mist-like inspiration.

Or at the very least, Lamordia adventures?

cool. Let us know how you like it. We were discussing it here:
http://fraternityofshadows.com/forum/vi ... f=5&t=7890
but I fell off in posting about it after S2E1. I should go back and post some thoughts eventually.

I recommend watching straight through, but if you've got a horror genre that you favor, you might want to skip around:
S1: Haunted House
S2: Insane Asylum / Serial Killer
S3: Witches

The nice thing is the seasons are independent of each other so you can watch season 2 without having seen season one (the best season and greatest Mordent inspiration ever).

JUST started Ripper Street.

It's happenning a couple of years after the Ripper murders.

The first episode had a pretty slow (possibly too slow) build up.
But the last 15 minutes (of 60) were pretty kick ass. There was a very nice twist to the story. It was very... modern. I wasn't sure I liked it but the inspector's comments on it sold me.

Once I get to the other episodes, I'll let you know!

Oh, I don't think I mentioned this: Les Revenants.
It is from France. Free on tou.tv

I really, really enjoyed this. Seven episodes I think.
There will be a second season. But it ALMOST could have ended like it did.
Extremely atmospheric!!!! Quite a few WTF? moments.

Go. Watch.

I will be waiting.

Les revenants is indeed quite cool :) Has it been translated to English?

J'aime bien Claire.

Hey Joël!

No translation for it... Yet.

BBC has bougt the rights. I THINK they are filming it now.

If I don't have time to come back here before Christmas!

If I'm not too late:
American Horror Story, Asylum was one of the best I've watched.
