The real castle Ravenloft

There is a real place called Castle Ravenloft in upstate NY:

I wounder if its name inspired TSR or not?

Nice one, but not really a castle. Sorry, as a European I'm spoiled to see real medieval castles. :wink:

This is actually the Dundas castle, also called the Craig-e-Clair castle, in Roscoe, NY.

He is correct apparently AbandonedNY.com who has done most of the legal photography of the castle makes a habit of renaming locations so that they are not liable for vandalism caused by the public exposure of the abandoned sites in question and to mislead would be vandals.

so that's kind of a bummer...

Not really. Renaming the castle to "Castle Ravenloft" was awesome too.
