Damn
Buchvold winces at the pain the shrapnel inflicts, as it cuts a wide gash down the length of his arm
I am out of practace at this overactive affiar... and then a grim thaught struck him
But I keep in far better phyisical condition than most other members. If they found themselves in this situation, thay would die in an instant.
How will we survive?

The borcan does not dwell on this, as the fight is far too immenant. He immediatly casts his first spell

You, could prehaps have herd a faint sound of wind coming from a place slightly in frount of , and about 15ft higher than the shreadstorm.

OOC: Delayed?...Could you PM me with what Buchvold has in mind? Most of his spells are instantaneous and can't be delayed. Readied, yes, but not delayed.

IC: The shredstorm re-forms with what seems to be nightmarish slowness, the splinters and blades of metal seeking each other out as if motivated by some invisible magnet. The whole process of reformation takes only about ten seconds, but they are among the longest ten seconds of Hiro and Buchvold's lives.

The whirling of the metal maelstrom begins again, and from within it there is a humming--a humming which produces words. "Clever," it hisses. "But I live still..."

Now, either more confident or more cautious, the shredstorm makes forward slowly, sparks building along the edges of the blades as their rotation picks up speed.

"Donec a arcu. Mauris augue."

Buchvold compleats his second spell, and now you can see plainly what his first spell did. A whirling, cylinder of screaming winds surrounds the shread storm. looking up, you can see that it is capped by another wall of wind. The wind blws so strongly, that their is no way that all thoes tiny blades can get through

OOC I hope...

The shredstorm snaps forward and is immediately deflected upward, tiny metal fragments streaming upward toward the ceiling, where they are whipped in another direction. The scream of Buchvold's wind walls masks the matching scream of the shredstorm as it regroups.

The whirling mass of metal re-forms in the center of its prison of wind, then begins to whirl faster and faster, moving forward slowly. Buchvold and Hiro can see the intent of the malign intelligence directing the swarm of metal--it intends to enter the wind wall at the bottom, matching its own trajectory to that of the imprisoning wall of air, and jet itself forward and outward, "slingshotting" itself through the wind wall and into the room. Buchvold has bought himself and Hiro more time--but, perhaps, not much more.

Hiro has spent most of his time taking in his surroundings. Noticing the metallic maelstrom's intent he looks to Raphael.

"Would a fire carry itself up that current and envelop the creature?" he asks while hastily looking through the various treasures for something useful -perhaps to use as cover should the shredstorm succeed.

Buchvold is in the middle of a spell, he mearly nods in responce to hiro's question

With the arcane sylabels compleated, a large, ball of devouring flame flies through buchvold's wind wall, the gusting winds only serving to bolster it's intensity

Once the spell is done buchvold replies

"Yes, a flame would work as you say, but none of my spells could accomplish a continued flame. Prehaps one of these items can help you?" the magician gestures to the serounding tresures, most of which are still entact

OOC Fireball. The stuff about the windwall is just flavour text.

OOC: Note that ice storm affects only land movement, not aerial movement, and therefore this has no effect on the shredstorm's movemnt; also, since wind wall deflects arrows and slingstones, it will significantly reduce damage dealt to the shredstorm by the ice storm, even if it doesn't eliminate it entirely. Are you still sure you want to use ice storm this round?

Chanting a few hurried phrases, Buchvold hurls a tiny red ball into the vortex of winds, where it explodes into a brilliant orange-red burst of flame whipped wildly by the surrounding winds. The shredstorm is momentarily scattered, and its attempt to flow through the wind wall is stymied--for the present. Gathering itself, it attempts again to pierce the surrounding column of wind.

OOC: You've bought one more round of actions, Buchvold and Hiro. Use it wisely!

This is going too badly for my taste. Unless...

"Aenean nulla. Sed porta dapibus. "

With that arcan phrase, Buchvold activates his prefered battle spell. 5 magic missiles strike the shred storm at a vaariaty of points. one waves it's way through several blades before stricking its target. One appears to hit thin air.

Buchvold now takes out a certian cone shaped device from the bag on his back, holding that in one hand, and the sleak ivory rod in the other.

OOC since this thing appears to be animated by some sort of spirit, Buchvold's missiles attempt to target a spred out series of points, in order to put the maximum strain on the spirit. One of the missiles is aimed at the neerby air, in case the spirit is streached beyond the construct

The shredstorm shudders as the force-missiles rip through it, making smaller disruptive vortices in the great vortex of metal that forms the body of the creature. Despite any damage it may have taken, however, its movement is unimpeded. This time it succeeds in riding through the barrier of the wind wall, jetting itself into the top of the chamber.

For just a moment it hovers, as if gathering itself, and then it launches itself downward, intent on flaying the flesh from its opponents' bones.

OOC: At the moment both Hiro and Buchvold are within 10 feet of each other and the shredstorm could attack both. A 5' step by either would force the shredstorm to choose a target.

Initiative: Hiro 22, the shredstorm 21, Buchvold 13 + (whatever his modifiers are--I doubt they come to +8 or higher, though), so I presume Hiro will act, then the shredstorm, then Buchvold. Coan, if you don't act within 24 hours I'll take your character's action myself (I'm sorry--I know that's obnoxious, but for ordered combat in which everyone takes a turn, sometimes it's necessary. :( )

Hiro seeing little point in trying to move away instead decides to concentrate on defense. Drawing his blade he moves it infront of him to create a vibrating shield while shifting his weight to dive away and dodge the oncoming assault.

OOC: Full on defense with tumble. If Buchvold doesn't do major harm to the creature next round, Hiro will attack defensively in order to judge the creature's difficulty.

Forced to choose between victims, the shredstorm dives toward Buchvold, whirling blades howling. The Borcan staggers back under the onslaught, his clothes and skin pierced by the spinning storm, electricity crackling along his frame as the electrical sparks from the storm race along his skin.

OOC: Attack 10+(d20)16=26, damage 13 weapon plus 10 electricity. Buchvold's saving throw against the storm's nausea effect fails, so the only action Buchvold can undertake is a move action. Practically speaking, that means that you're up, Coan.

As the shreadstorm canons into him, buchvold is just quick enough to be able to ajust his grip on his cone shaped device, the blades and the accompaining electricity hit him... and the Doorbreaker.

ooc The cone shaped device was a doorbreaker petard, an explosive. If the shreadstorm detonated it, it woud take 3d6 damage (Buchvold would get 1d6, as he is not sufficiant a fool to hold the explosive pointing towards himself

and whatever happens with that, buchvold's move action is to retreat back as far as he can.

The explosion of the Borcan's device rips through the room, throwing him back several feet and sending pieces of metal flying. Hiro coolly dodges those flung toward him, slapping one large blade aside with the blade of his katana.

OOC: More shrapnel, but Hiro succeeded on a Reflex save and took no damage. Buchvold took 5 points of damage from the explosion and is at -31 from full health; he is, however, free of the shredstorm's radius. It is now Hiro's action.
