Vote Ravenloft in Wizards 5E Elements Survey

Post by Catman Jim »

Wizards of the Coast has a Facebook Survey up, with the first question being "Which of the following campaign settings would you like to see updated to Fifth Edition D&D rules?"

Vote for Ravenloft here: http://sgiz.mobi/s3/D-D-5e-Elements-Survey-5
I only wish I had retired sooner!

note: you don't (seem to) need Facebook to vote!

I voted for Ravenloft (and Birthright as well as Spelljammer), though I'll probably never play 5e - I voted for community support reasons, not that I really care if WotC does anything at all.

I voted Ravenloft, none of the classes and (I'm sure this will come as a surprise) kender.

Vote results up!

http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/july-survey
The popularity of settings in the survey fell into three distinct clusters. Not surprisingly, our most popular settings from prior editions landed at the top of the rankings, with Eberron, Ravenloft, Dark Sun, Planescape, and the Forgotten Realms all proving equally popular. Greyhawk, Dragonlance, and Spelljammer all shared a similar level of second-tier popularity, followed by a fairly steep drop-off to the rest of the settings. My sense is that Spelljammer has often lagged behind the broad popularity of other settings, falling into love-it-or-hate-it status depending on personal tastes. Greyhawk and Dragonlance hew fairly close to the assumptions we used in creating the fifth edition rulebooks, making them much easier to run with material from past editions. Of the top five settings, four require significant new material to function and the fifth is by far our most popular world.

Goody... I couldn't predict nothing it seems. But let's be frank: Did anyone here thought ThriKreen would be among the most popular races??

As for Spelljammer, I expected it to finish last. Planescape variant perhaps but alone SJ is just too... weird.

I love Spelljammer as a campaign setting, but actually playing...either as a player or DM...is a totally different thing all together.

And what is the result??
Ravenloft as 2nd place after Eberron??

The article just say it was in the first tier (Which is good...)...but what about it?

Are they going to do a new Campaign Setting with that? It could be that maybe after they made the Eberron CS; we will have a CS for Ravenloft too?

The survey wasn't clear about what place Ravenloft is; it just said that it was one of the Top Five. However (considering that Wizards has a rather modified business model on releases these days), I'm not really betting on a new campaign setting book for any of the five in the foreseeable future.

ENWorld has already confirmed that the Sword Coast campaign setting (the first true setting for 5E) will be released soon, though:

Nothing against it...but I'm getting bored of all FR; it just really didn't seem so exciting to me anymore :(

Yes. I've never met a gaming group that didn't include at least one person who loved the thri-kreen, and my personal gaming group is comprised almost entirely of people who think they're awesome. So I figured they'd come in at the top, followed by aasimar. Goblins were a little surprising.
