Post Heraldry and Vexillology of the Core
Nova Vaasa (Banner of the Prince): A dark horseman, crowned and with lance couched upon a sable steed bestriding a golden field upon which four black horses salute the Lord of all their race, as well as the Human Master of their Homeland - in eternal memory of the Conqueror-King himself, for whether his history be false or true no-one in Nova Vaasa cares to doubt it.

The Five Families of Nova Vaasa

Bolshnik of the Heartland (Family Crest): A shield bifurcated by the symbolic spear of the Lawgiver impaling a small shield upon which is set a black knight on gold (intending to show The Lawgiver's support for lords, but these days taken to be a hint at the fate of armed opposition to The Prince) - on one side the field is as red as the aptly-named Plain of Judgement, on the other as green as the misnamed Plain of Misery.

Chekiv of the Pommel (Family Crest): A bifurcated shield, on one half of which a black horse races across a golden field aend on the other grey & black, like the sea crashing against a golden shore under the cover of night or like a mist-curtain drawn over the edge of a world ...

Hiregaard of Borchava (Family Crest): A centaur, black on gold, intended to symbolise the ferocious skills of the house in horsemanship and in the other crafts of War (also a neat way to hint at the divided nature of the Lord of this noble house).

Rivtoff of Ivlis (Family Crest): Four silver hooves on a sable field, with lightning descending from the peak of the arch in each horseshoe - a token intended to recall the Thundering Plain where the family keeps it's domain and makes it's home.

Vistin of Altid (Family Crest): A shield three parts a green, with the upper part blue against which is silhouetted a black tower, giving the impression of a great fortress set at the top of a high cliff to keep watch over the wildest woodland imaginable, hostile to horsemen AND their steeds.

This is a sample of what I intend to be a thread seeking to concoct banners and blazons either new for those Core Domains that to date have lacked them or as alternatives to those already constructed - I like some of the designs held in the Mausoleum tremendously but find others to be not quite so perfect.

As my knowledge of Ravenloft is incomplete advice would be welcome and I hope to stimulate at least brief discussion of the topic; I would be exceedingly ungracious if I did not keep my mind open to suggestions for an alternative to my alternatives!

More to follow when I have it.
