With the RL catalog wikiseeds slain, I'm starting this thread to discuss/propose/track/solicit further work on the wiki. I'll list the projects in the OP, and anyone can reply below with questions, proposals, progress, etc.

Project #1: The Timeline. Codename: Memory of the Manusa (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: none
* The Timeline needs filling in.

Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
See Talk:Timeline for instructions.
Project #2: Monster Sorting. Codename: Van Richten's Taxonomy (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: moderate
* The monsters in Category:Unsorted Monster need sorting
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Step 1: Click on a monster in this category.
Step 2: Look it up in the book it came from to get an idea of what it is.
Step 3: Compare to the 3.x creature types, and find one that fits
Step 4: Edit the monster page and replace "Unsorted Monster" with the Category for that type
Project #3: Category cleanup. Codename: Tallow Family Vacation (COMPLETE FOR NOW, but should be checked occasionally)
Books/knowledge needed: varies
* The only category that should be found on Special:UncategorizedCategories is Category:Contents. The only page that should be found on Special:UncategorizedPages is Main Page. Anything else found there should have a category added or be deleted.
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Step 1: Click on a page/category on those lists
Step 2: If it's not needed, replace the page it with {{del}} and the Admin will delete it.
Step 3: Be sure to check "what links here" and correct typos, and/or make a #REDIRECT for common misspellings.
Step 4: If deleting a category, be sure to edit all the things in that category to remove or correct the category.
Project #4: Red Link removal. Codename: Blood Elemental Mop-up (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: varies
* Special:WantedCategories and Special:WantedPages show the list of pages that don't exist, but someone linked to them. Try and get those red links out of here!
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Step 1: Click on a page/category on those lists
Step 2: If it's a real thing, make at least a small descriptive blurb and categorize it. If it's a typo, follow it back through "What links here" and correct it and/or make a #REDIRECT for common misspellings.
Step 3: If deleting a category, be sure to edit all the things in that category to remove or correct the category.
Project #5: Dombox cleanup. Codename: S's Notepad (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: varies
* Each domain's "dombox" needs filling in with the various info on that domain.
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Step 1: Go The list of domains
Step 2: Click on one, look for missing data in the dombox
Step 3: Edit the page
Step 4: Fill in anything you know about culture_lvl, ecology, terrain, year_formed, population, races, languages, religions, government, ruler, darklord, analog, or nationality, and if there's a map somewhere, link it under "picture"
Project #6: NPC sorting. Codename: The Kargat Knows Your Shoe Size (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: major
* NPC sorting by Gender/Race/Nationality, etc.
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Make sure every NPC in category:NPC has Categories for Gender (Category:Male, Female, or Genderless), Race (Category:Human, Category:Werewolf, etc.), Nationality (Category:Barovian, etc.), and Residence (Category:Inhabitants of ...) at least, and preferably a profession or class too.

A Multi-category Search can help here.

For example, search for all NPC's that aren't labelled Male, Female, or Genderless.
Project #7: Location sorting. Codename: George Weathermay's Atlas (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: moderate
* Location sorting by city and domain
Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Make sure every Location in category:Location has a "Locations in __(City)___" and "Locations in ___(Domain)___" category, if applicable, or put it in Category:Unplaced Location

Gonzoron will be finding a way to search for the ones that are missing shortly.
Project #8: Catalog completion. Codename: The Dark Powers see all (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: all you need is one book not on the list
* The RL Catalogue, which formed the bases of the wiki completely catalogued all the books on this list (left-hand side):
http://fraternityofshadows.com/rldb/rldb.shtml
Everything else needs to go in.

Instructions in spoiler box:
VIEW CONTENT:
Step 1: Pick something from the right side (or something else not on the left side) and go through it page by page, adding every Character, Location, Item, Monster, Spell, Event, or anything else of note to the wiki.
Step 2: Make sure you add page number references.
Step 3: Make sure you're not just copying the text. Summarize and rephrase.
Step 4: When a given book is done, make the "Talk" page for that book with a note that you've catalogued it in the wiki.
Project #9: Crowd-sourcing a Cluster. Codename: The Hub Project (ONGOING)
Books/knowledge needed: varies (none to some)
* The Hub Project is an attempt to create and flesh-out a cluster, right on Mistipedia.
Instructions in spoiler box:

update: I installed the Multi-category Search extension. This should help with Project #6, among other things. I updated the instructions for Project #6.

update: added the Hub to the project list and stickied. I'll also make a link to here from the Current Events page on the wiki.

update: I found a way to populate the "related categories" redirects and category pages auto-magically. (thank you, thank you...) So project #5 has changed scope. I've edited it above.

Not sure if this matters but I did notice Admin deleting a few things in the past but i'm sure we don't want THIS cluttering up our wiki?

yup, I've been zapping the spam as I see it. In the future, go ahead and edit pages like that, replacing the whole page with {{del}} and I'll see it eventually and delete it.

I had one proposed idea for an ongoing project: adding {{canon}}, {{netbook}}, and {{Homebrew non-canon}} to all the entries that are missing them. In addition to to be informative, these templates add the respective [[ ]] term, which can be important for searching purposes, especially multi-category searches.

Absolutely agreed. At the very least, netbook and homebrew are most important. There is an assumption that the default is canon, if not specified.

Project #10: Release Timeline. Codename: Azalin's Library
Books/knowledge needed: moderate
* The Master Release timeline needs filling in.
VIEW CONTENT:
The goal is to list everything ever made for Ravenloft in chronilogical order. I've made a start, but would appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. Please be mindful of the wacky formatting that serves to hide "unofficial" stuff like netbooks and RPGA modules. There's a list at the top of things that need to be added. Use your best judgement as to whether things count as official or not. If the formatting is too daunting, just replacing the ??'s with actual (short!) summaries of the product would be helpful.

What type of formatting is a printed magazine article considered for these purposes?

Not sure what you
mean. For what purposes? If it's in Dungeon or dragon, we've considered it canon, if that's what you mean. What do you mean by formatting? formatting of the page about the aritcle? We don't have any real template there, but you can follow some that exist or make your own. Let me know specifically what you mean, and maybe I can help further.

On project 10 with the release timeline, you have
Release date
Title
Type
Format
Summary

If it's a Dragon or Dungeon magazine that was printed (as opposed to online), what format is that considered? Paperback? Something else?

Ah, sorry, I see what you mean. Let's go with "Magazine" as the format.

In case it matters, I've added four pages: Ciska, Mu, the Wartorn Cluster and the Brightwell Coven.
