Vampire Hunters Campaign Critters #1 & #2

Post by Herman Strauss »

[This is a collection of ideas for bloodsuckers (not necessarily vampire-template using or undead) intended to spice up a vampire-hunting themed campaign with a little variety-suggestions for actual game statistics and comments are welcomed-Enjoy!]

#1 Lurker of the sewer (Nosos/Vampiric Otyugh)
  • A dying doctor turned bloodsucking sewer abomination to continue his research
    • - He conducted extreme research to cure diseases using alchemical formulas based on Otyugh and other disease tolerant creatures’ anatomical parts & bodily products

      - He brutally experimented on the poor and helpless going so far as to alter unborn babies into short lived hybridical monstrosities

      - All this he did with the self-delusion of liberating the people from the ravages of disease

      - In reality his goal was scientific triumph for personal glorification

      - All this changed when in a moment of fervent revelations he accidentally contaminated himself with an especially horrid breed of diseases he had created to test the endurance of his most recent creations

      - He was forced to frantically test on himself every cure he had created

      - As a result he was transformed into an Otyugh like creature with leeching tentacles

      - He can attain human form for a short time by drinking the blood of a diseased person (healthy people can effectively drive the doctor away in all of his forms), but the result is a horribly pain-wracked leprous version of himself

      - Ironically he can now secrete from his body a curative goo for every disease, though doing so is both painful and useless for he cannot use it on himself
#2 Shade Brutes (Mordent/Vampiric Shadows+Ghost-Touch Chalice)
  • An orphan allied with a "gang" of shadowy lost children that become corporeal when feeding on blood
    • - The Shades Brutes were children, orphans murdered by Mr. Raspings (the hulking drunkard owner of the orphanage) during his fits of alcohol induced rage

      - He beat them to death with his cane, relishing the strength advantage his size and age gave him over them

      - Their tortured spirits started whispering to an orphan named Stephen of their tragic fate and warned him that he and others might soon share it, unless he did something to remove the threat of this monstrous man

      - The shades lead Stephen to their hidden corpses and with their bones he manufactured a morbid ghost touch chalice

      - Using the goblet and Stephen’s hatred for the owner as a focus the shades were able to manifest as undead shadow horrors

      - They stalked their killer and at the opportune moment fell upon him in a dark alley with their enfeebling strikes, depriving him of his prized advantage

      - As he lay down aware but helpless the Stephen came forth holding the chalice

      - Using a wicked fork he pricked Mr. Raspings throat and filled his morbid cup, beckoning the shadows to enjoy their drink in front of the horrified and helpless child killer

      - As each shade sated its thirst, its flesh returned and gained a semblance of life that lasted until the rise of the sun

      - Stephen left the rat-filled institution and with his ghastly friends began wandering, searching the streets for child molesters and abusers upon which to inflict their horrible punishment

      - The bone-cup grants formidable gifts to its possessor including invisibility and shadow-walking

      - The chalice for all its power holds a dark curse: if the wielder has it in his possession by the time of his thirteenth birthday he will join the gang as a shade and the cup will be presented to another child that can use its power to thwart an oppressive grownup
Nature offers the sick and dying.
We offer the best we have.
That's why the Gods prefer our sacrifices!
