I received that mail as well... Not nice... But what will happen now? - Thankfully, my credit card has a limit of 1000 $, so they won't go that far unnoticed...

Thankfully, the grandmother rule of these boards prevents me from airing my true opinion about these fellows...

This is a bit conspiracy-theory-long-time-rpg-player of me, but what if these guys never hacked the WW site, just got a hold of the mailing list and made up the story to try and make a fast buck (and to scare people)?

Good idea for a Ravenloft storyline now that I think about it...

I am not that knowledgable with hacking (I know how to work my computer but not how it works kind of thing.)

Should I really cancel my credit card?

I bought the Ptolus setting through WW.
They charge me 10$ a month...

Oy vey...

Can someone let me know? (I am sending an e-mail to WW too.)

If anything, I would wait for the response from WW... makes me happy I have no credit card info for them to get.

These hackers were able to exploit a flaw in our software and access
user data, this data included usernames, email addresses and
encrypted passwords. As far as we can ascertain, they were unable to
access any credit card data (nor have they claimed they did).
However, it is possible for the encrypted passwords they accessed to
be decrypted given enough time.

Credit Card info should be safe. If you're feeling paranoid ask your bank to put a hold on your card's use or ask them to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
It looks like it's mostly passwords and the like.

Since those are real, professional criminals, as far as it seems, I'd take any precautions I can so far - if the spam increases, I'll even change my email adress. Still, canceling your credit card isn't THAT much of an inconveniency and saves you from any possible trouble.
