Just a stupid aside, but ... I've often thought it'd be perfect if Harkon was finally killed because somebody used the very song he's been teaching to human bards for decades, so they'd get themselves killed -- the one that attracts uncontrolled, hungry dire wolves to the performer's location -- as a means of systematically luring in and destroying every eligible "replacement body" in his domain. It'd be kinda hard on the local ecosystem, but it would be a classic bit of 'Ravenlofty' irony: a darklord undone as the result of a passing act of casual cruelty he's never really bothered to think about.
